The ethos behind the new guest lodge in Shikwaru Eco Estate is living in equal partnership and harmony with nature. As an overarching metaphor, the building echoes a humble wildlife hide, where its understated façade of natural materials belies an interior which opens up to nature on its doorstep.
Humans, antelope, fauna and birdlife exist in happy symbiosis. From clever window design that allows for an unobtrusive gaze upon surrounding wildlife, to open en-suite showers overlooking the privacy of a tree canopy, to a panopticon roof balcony – every ecological plain is accessible to the very welcomed guests of the lodge.
